Mobile app development for iOS and Android
We build mobile apps for iPhone and Android: cross-platform with React Native, native with Swift and Kotlin, or an installable web app. Then we take them through the App Store and Google Play release. High-quality engineering, with cost-effective international delivery.
Problems we solve
Does one of these sound familiar?
“Our customers keep asking for an app.”
For people who use your service every day, a website in a phone’s browser isn’t always enough. We build an app they can install and keep on their home screen.
“We can’t afford to build everything twice.”
Separate iPhone and Android apps can mean two codebases to build, then keep in step every time something changes. Where it suits the project, one React Native codebase covers both.
“We don’t know how to get into the app stores.”
Apple and Google each have their own accounts, listings and review rules. We get the app ready for release and take it through both stores.
What you get
An app your users can install, and a clear choice of how it’s built.
- A mobile app for iPhone and Android, built around your users and your business goals
- Cross-platform, native or an installable web app, whichever suits your app
- Your app released on the App Store and Google Play
- Ongoing development and maintenance after launch, if you want it
Technology we use
React Native lets one codebase run on iPhone and Android. We use it with Expo’s tools for building and releasing, and it shares a language with React websites and Node.js back ends. When an app needs what only the platform’s own tools can give, we build natively with Swift and Kotlin. When an installable web app is enough, we build a PWA. We recommend whichever suits your app rather than fitting every project to one framework.
Is this the right fit?
A good fit if you…
- need a new app for iPhone, Android or both
- aren’t sure whether to go cross-platform, native or with an installable web app, and want help choosing
- want high-quality, modern engineering at a cost-effective price
Probably not a fit if you…
- need a tool your team uses in the browser at work — our custom web application service is a better match
- already have an app built by someone else that needs taking over or maintaining
How we work
Every app starts from who will use it, and what for.
Understand the goal
You tell us what the app needs to do. We ask about the people who will use it, your business goal and any constraints.
Recommend an approach
We suggest a scope and technical approach, including whether a cross-platform, native or web app fits your project.
Build and review
We build the app and share progress as we go, so you can try it and give feedback before launch.
Launch and support
For a store app, we release it on the App Store and Google Play, and we can carry on with ongoing development, improvements and maintenance.
Questions clients ask
Should our app be cross-platform or native?
It depends on the app. React Native builds iPhone and Android from one codebase, and that suits many apps. Native Swift and Kotlin are the better choice when an app leans heavily on what the phone itself can do. We’ll recommend one once we understand what you need. React Native, native or a web app compares all three approaches in more detail.
Do we need an app in the app stores?
Not always. An installable web app (PWA) works on phones without going through the app stores, and it can be the simpler path. If your users expect to find you in the App Store or Google Play, a store app is the better choice.
Do you handle the App Store and Google Play release?
Yes. We prepare the app for both stores and take it through their review and release.
Can the app use our existing website or back end?
Yes, if your systems can share their data with an app. If they can’t yet, our Node.js and API development service builds the back end and API the app works with.
