Your systems do not talk to each other. Copying data between tools by hand is slow and easy to get wrong. An application built for you can connect to the APIs and services you already rely on.
What a custom web application actually is
It is software your team opens in a browser: an internal tool, a dashboard, a customer portal, or the product you sell. It is built around your data and the people who use it, rather than around someone else’s idea of how your industry works.
That is also its cost. Custom software is yours to run and to keep improving, so it is worth building when the work it replaces is central to the business — and not worth building when it is not.

- What you really need is a website that presents the business well — a content site, not an application.
- The process you would automate is still changing every week. Settle it first, then build.
