Tallowbrook API
Node.js & API development · demo
The back end behind a shop’s front end
Tallowbrook Supply is a fictional homewares shop. This is its order API: a real Node.js service with its own rules, integrations and documentation, running at https://webcrg.com/demos/tallowbrook-api. You get your own private sandbox to try it.
The problem
“Our front end is ready, but there’s nothing behind it.”
Tallowbrook’s storefront had a design and no back end. The API now keeps the catalogue, customers and orders, and enforces the rules: stock is reserved, totals are calculated on the server, and a retried request never creates a second order.
The problem
“We need to connect to another platform.”
Each order runs through a payment provider, an email service and a CRM. Payments confirm through signed webhooks; when the CRM is down, syncs retry and wait for a replay instead of getting lost.
The problem
“Our API has become slow and hard to change.”
The sales report used to make one database query per row. The rebuilt endpoint batches its queries and caches the result, and it returns the same report. Measure both from your browser.
Or from a terminal
The API answers anyone, not only this page. Create a sandbox and list the catalogue:
curl -X POST https://webcrg.com/demos/tallowbrook-api/v1/sandboxes
curl https://webcrg.com/demos/tallowbrook-api/v1/products?limit=3 \
-H "Authorization: Bearer sk_demo_…"The full list of endpoints is in the API reference, generated from the same schemas the API validates requests with.
